Choosing the right shingle
- 01Architectural shingles
- Thicker, laminated shingles with a dimensional look. The standard choice for a replacement today.
- 02Impact-resistant shingles
- Rated Class 4 under UL 2218, the toughest impact test for shingles. Worth a serious look in hail country, and some insurers discount premiums for them.
- 03Color
- Darker colors hide streaks and suit brick and stone. Lighter blends keep a little more heat out of the attic. Ask to see samples at the estimate.
- 043-tab shingles
- Flat, single-layer shingles, mostly used today for repairs and matching on older roofs.
What goes under the shingles matters
A shingle is one layer of a system. On our replacements, leak barrier runs along the eaves and in the valleys, synthetic underlayment covers the rest of the deck, and new drip edge, starter strip, ridge caps and vents finish the job. Skip any one of those and the shingles can't do their job, no matter how good they are.

Manufacturer warranties depend on proper installation: nail placement, starter courses, ventilation. Our crew follows the manufacturer's instructions, and our own workmanship warranty covers the labor for 15 years.

It depends on the product, the attic ventilation and the weather your roof sees. Around here, hail usually ends a shingle roof long before age does.
Can I change my shingle color?
Yes. If you have an HOA, check with it first. Many south metro communities keep a list of approved colors.
