Low slope needs a different roof
Shingles shed water by gravity. On a roof with very little pitch, water moves too slowly, wind-driven rain backs up under the laps, and the roof leaks. Flat and low-slope sections need a system made for them: a continuous membrane that keeps water out even when it sits for a while.
Plenty of Front Range homes have at least one of these sections, like a covered patio off the back of a ranch, an enclosed porch, a garage or a later addition. They're often the first place a house leaks.

Where the problems start

- Water that sits in low spots after a storm breaks roofing down faster and finds any seam.
- 02Tie-ins
- The joint where a flat section meets a pitched roof or a wall is the most common leak point. It needs proper flashing, not caulk.
- 03Old roll roofing
- Mineral-surfaced roll roofing cracks and lifts at the laps as it ages in the sun.
- 04Drainage edges
- Without a proper edge and gutter, water runs behind the fascia and rots the wood.
What we install
The right system depends on pitch, drainage and whether anyone walks on it. We recommend a low-slope membrane that fits your roof, tie it into the main roof with new flashing, and finish the edges so water ends up in the gutter where it belongs.

Can a flat roof be repaired, or does it need replacing?
Small failures at seams and tie-ins can often be repaired. If the membrane is cracked across the whole surface or the deck underneath is soft, replacement is the better value.
Can you redo a flat section with the main roof?
Yes, and it's usually the smart time to do it. The tie-in between the two gets built once, correctly.
